For those of you who weren't there, or didn't look out the window, Sunday was the best day of 1999 so far. I raced B's at 10 am and the air was crisp and cool and skies were clear. The race was a 3 mile circuit on backroads with one long hilly section. Our race was combined with 4/5s, and we did 8 laps. Managed to hang with the pack of about 50 for 4 laps. I always lost ground on the hilly section, but managed to catch up on top by not letting up over the crest, and often grabbing onto a fellow straggler's wheel. But the 5th time around killed me. I rode with a guy from Walla Walla for a lap, toasted him on the 6th hill when a UOregon guy pulled me along. Then he toasted me on the hill next time. Did the last lap by myself pushing as hard as I could without going paralytic from the waist down, and with 200 m to go up a windy short hill, the damn Walla Walla guy and 2 others who were working together passed me for a sprint finish. I felt like a wingless duck on a pond in hunting season. But it was a blast. I am SO pumped for tri-cities this weekend: time trial both indiv. and team Sat and RR Sunday..Hope we have some good numbers. How did the A's race go?? Dan Apologies to those who don't care to hear race reports....never mind, that's what the list is for right?? On Tue, 13 Apr 1999, S.
