Huh? What kind of legitimacy does it give to the process when YOU and the Council go against your own committee? I don't make the logical connection. They said what was true: We were on our way to trouncing Harvard (that Ha-ah-va-ah-hd, that small school in Cambridge, Mass.) and Columbia (that other small school in New York City) as a department. You personally decided that had no place in a school that is trying to recruit a high school student who cannot even get an 800 combined on her SAT's (I believe that is the NCAA minimum) and keeps adding new labs and wind tunnels. Lesson learned: The only ruling academic guideposts here are Bill Gate's and Boeing's money, and the football team. > As graduate adviser you serve the chair of the department, and the > graduate student issues need to be addressed in the complete context of > the department's administration by Karl. Sorry, you keep denying yours and passing the buck faster than any DC congressman. Prof. Diment is the person in day to day contact with ALL THE GRADUATE STUDENTS. She is a far better barometer of what we need than anybody else in the department. Never mind, I keep forgetting, competency keeps being defined as less than the NCAA SAT required scores. The sign company in New Jersey said they can Fed Ex the UW Tech signs in case of emergency.
