If residency is not determined by marriage, then why does the wife of an active military person, need to show on the LES that WA is the state for tax purposes? I have a spouse of active military person who has lived here continuously from Jan 95 with WA driver's license and their vehicles are registered in WA. She has not worked most of that time, actually just started working April of 97, but that's over a year's time. They are renting a home in Spokane. WA does not have state income tax, so she has been contributing to our economy through sales tax just like everyone else. Is the LES a mandatory item in these cases? Please assist me with this.
