SALARY RANGE: Annually $33,024 - $58,764 Beginning salary will be $33,024 - $35,688 depending upon qualifications. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Operates the Department's Mobile Aquarium and associated programs; uses a fifth wheel truck to transport the 3,200 gallon unit to scheduled events; coordinates/sets schedules for the aquarium display; makes local arrangements concerning event time and place; responsible for set up and take down of aquarium (including filling the tank, treating water, making final arrangements to receive fish from hatchery/regional sources, dewatering, fish removal, exhibit take down, etc.); performs/assists hatchery staff with aquarium maintenance and equipment/supply procurement so that unit is always in good working order and is aesthetically pleasing to the public; insures that aquarium fish are monitored for diseases and makes necessary treatments to keep fish in good condition; makes interpretive presentations concerning angling methods and techniques, aquatic ecosystems (pond, lake, reservoir, stream, big river, etc.), fish identification, rare and endangered species issues, etc.; assists with design, construction, storage, and transportation of aquarium support displays; develops/assists with development of brochures and other informational materials; supervises two temporary employees that assis with the aquarium program and assists with hatchery staff during aquarium down periods; and performs other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Fisheries Science, the Biological Sciences, Ichthyology, Natural Resource Education, Wildlife Science, Zoology or other closely related field and three (3) years of related professional experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in aquarium management, aquaculture, fisheries/aquatic biology and natural resources interpretation is desired.
