In-Reply-To: Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; CHARSET=US-ASCII X-Uwash-Spam: Gauge=XXI, Probability=21%, Report="NO_REAL_NAME, SPAM_PHRASE_03_05, SUPERLONG_LINE, USER_AGENT_PINE" Hello everyone, I wanted to ask you about the exciting world of pledge parenting. Before we have pledges id like to see the interest in being a pledge parent, and i think even some of the non officers want to do this...(Griff, Ken, Jamie???) Anyways, let me tell you the deal. Being a pledge parent is basically being a mentor. In this way each pledge is paired up with a brother who can help them complete the pledge program(and this year it is a bit more harsh). In addition new members are made to feel part of the fraternity and chapter, by being in a "family". The bond should continue even after a new member has been inducted into the chapter. The pledge parent is required to spend at least once every two weeks with their kid doing something-even if its just meeting for luch between classes, or going to a movie, or official fellowship event(service and meetings dont count). Heres how the whole thing will work out. If you are interested in being a pledge parent, you will take this quiz that will match you up using common interests. You are responsible for looking out for your kid, and helping them witht the pledge program, This can range from helping them study for the tests to making sure thay are staying active in the pledge program. You can also get them gifts if you desire(occasionally, every meeting, once?), a shirt perhaps-we have a bunch, just 10 bucks. By giving them a shirt, other people wearing it at an event, service, or fellowship helps make the pledges feel apart of the group, and will help with feelings of accepting the chapter. It is up to your discretion though. When they are inducted as our new brothers you may decide to prvide them with other apo items(and yes we have a list of stuff you can get, some of it is actually decently priced). So basically, hang out with them, help them with pledge stuff, attend their pledge review(TBA), initiation(TBA), and make them feel welcome. I also want to make sure you mark off the night of March 7th-that is the pledge induction and i want ALL of you to be there! That is bascially it, please let me know if you are interested. Cheers!
