The JET Program provides a unique opportunity of discovery, adventure, and goodwill. Participants are usually selected as either Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) or as Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs) and all JET Program participants (JETs) fulfill the greater role of a "cultural ambassador".
