Thank you, Debbie Angel Information Technology Intern Program Manager Weyerhaeuser Weyerhaeuser Company Timberlands Information Services 1999 Intern Assignment Timberlands Information Services (TIS) is looking for intern candidates for a full-time summer assignment or part-time six-month assignment, beginning this summer. Candidates must be juniors or seniors, majoring in Forestry, Forest Science or Natural Resources with an interest in Information Technology. Timberlands Information Services has approximately 45 members comprised of employees and contractors. TIS is located at the West Campus Building in Federal Way, Washington. Most of our work is project based and funded by the Southern and Western Timberlands businesses. Current projects include new resource inventory systems, field data collection, and log marketing and scaling applications. Interns will be working primarily out of the Federal Way Washington office, the remainder will be field visits in Washington and Oregon. Interns will assist the project staff in software development, testing, documentation, acceptance testing, and implementation/training with business partners. They will be assigned to a developer and given specific tasks related to current development. Interns report to the project manager. Required Skills * Forestry, forest science or natural resources major with an interest in Information Technology. * Ability to work in a team environment. We have several business related projects involving project team and business team members. * Written and oral communications skills. All programming and documentation efforts need good written skills. Standardization efforts for development require a given "look and feel" to our applications. Good oral skills are necessary to work with business team members over the phone. E-mail and voice mail are critical to our ongoing communications efforts. * Experience with e-mail and word processing software. We use Microsoft products; experience in other products is acceptable. * Junior or senior with overall GPA of 3.2. Key Preferred Skills * Course work in statistics, forest sampling, database design, and mathematics are relevant to our project needs. * Experience in Microsoft office products including WORD, ACCESS, and EXCEL. * Course work or experience in C++, FORTRAN, Visual BASIC or any structured programming language. * Course work or experience in GPS, hand held data recorders, barcode technology, and field data collection for natural resources.
