Cooper: "Once the Board of Trustees voted for a tuition increase to fill in the state cut, and once the numbers of early retirements of faculty and staff were calculated, we believe the fiscal emergency was no longer real. ... The restructured university voted by the trustees on June 26 reflects an educational wisdom designed by an administrative bureaucracy that has not taught a student in decades, if ever. [It has] no regard for faculty views about what a student needs to graduate and moves faculty and students around like so many chess pieces... Chairman of the faculty union and I have sent a letter of intent to pursue legal action against the university..." >From one coast to the other...GD .
