Late in the last millennium (December 7, 2000), Juliana Bastos of Brazil
asked about conferences in Canada in 2001, especially in the Ontario area.
More than one reply on the list mentioned the Classical Association of
Canada annual meeting, but no one seemed to have precise information
because the call for papers had not appeared.

I have now seen the call for papers.  The dates of the conference
are 10-12 May 2001.  It is being hosted by the University of Waterloo
and Wilfrid Laurier University (also located in Waterloo, Ontario).  The
deadline for abstracts is January 31, 2001.

Persons giving papers must be paid-up members of the Classical Association
of Canada, but membership is open to non-Canadians.  The annual dues are
$75.00 (Canadian), but persons making less than $30,000 Canadian may pay
$45.00 Canadian.  Members receive, without further payment, the journals
_Phoenix_ and _Echos du Monde Classique/Classical Views_ (which is about
to have its name transmogrified).

Anyone interested in joining should contact the treasurer of the CAC,
Dr. Craig Cooper (craig.cooper@uwinnipeg.ca).  Abstracts should be sent
to Sheila Ager, Department of Anthropology and Classical Studies,
University of Waterloo, Waterloo ON  N2L 3G1 (sager@watarts.uwaterloo.ca).
