The site's resources relate to themes of stakeholder = participation and partnerships. The website provides information, = frameworks, tools and processes which can be used by those wishing to more = effectively engage different groups of stakeholders in research and = development initiatives. A number of on-line papers and reports are = available. Topics covered include participation, organisational learning, = group processes, and working with local and indigenous knowledge and = values. A new section on participation and policy development was posted last = month. This can be accessed directly from the main entry page at http://www= ..landcareresearch.co.nz/research/social/ and includes links to the = following on-line reports: * Using participatory and learning-based approaches for environmental = management to help achieve constructive behaviour change: This report = prepared for the Ministry for the Environment reviews contemporary = approaches to environmental policy making, and frameworks for supporting = behaviour change. It outlines key concepts for managing participation in = practice, and describes how to build group capacity for supporting change. * Sustainable Development Extension: This report prepared for the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry covers = current theory and practice, and suggests ways to integrate and co-ordinate= sustainable development information and extension. It points to constraint= s of fragmentation of information and knowledge, and that the lack of = capacity to institte learning-based approaches on a scale beyond that of = individual groups. The report highlights the need to mainstream appropriate= evaluation processes to support, and measure progress towards, the = required wide-scale collaborative learning approaches. * A collaborative research model for working with iwi: This report uses a New Zealand case study to outline some of the key = ingredients of successful collaborative research with indigenous people. = It also describes some of the barriers to, and difficulties in, setting up = collaborative research projects in this way. Feedback and comments on any of this material provided through this site = is welcome, and can be made directly to the researchers involved, who are = listed throughout the site. Current subscribers include agency and = government staff (resource managers, policy analysts, etc.), facilitators,= community, sector and environmental group leaders, social scientists, and = science programme leaders.
