Please share with environmental health as appropriate. The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), with institutional cosponsors and partnerships with California State University at Fresno, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Bureau of the Census, US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), the US Geological Survey (USGS), the American Public Health Association (APHA), the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), and the National Center for Geographic Information and Analysis (NCGIA), is currently planning a "GIS in Public Health" conference for August 17-20, 1998, in San Diego, California. This conference will highlight innovative applications of GIS (geographic information systems) and spatial analysis techniques for the protection of public health and the environment. On behalf of all sponsors, I invite your participation in this timely conference for discussions with an international group of professionals in the field of GIS and public health. Abstracts describing presentations of your current research in the protection of human health through the use of GIS are now being solicited for the August conference. Complete conference details can be obtained on ATSDR's Home Page, located at: http://atsdr1.atsdr.cdc.gov:8080/GIS/conference/ An online abstract submission form is available to facilitate entry of your conference abstracts. If you do not have access to the Internet, please respond to this E-mail and I will be more than happy to send you a conference brochure. An exposition demonstrating state-of-the art equipment, software, and books to support spatial analysis will also be occurring at the convention center. Regardless of your level of expertise, I encourage your participation in this conference. Please pass this information on to your colleagues and to other interested parties. I apologize for cross-postings.
