Thanks! Shellie Jo ***************************************************************************** The University of Washington Tacoma is home to a minor in non-profit studies as well as a certification through the National American Humanics Association that dedicates itself to preparing future humanitarian leaders within our country. The passion and outreach that occurred on September 11th speaks loudly of the collective efforts of community non-profits across the country posed for not only horrific events, as what happened on this day, but also with the tragedies that effect members of our community on a daily basis. For the homeless, domestic violence sufferers, children with multiple disabilities, the elderly trying to maintain enough independence to stay in the homes that tie them to treasured memories, September 11th is just another day as they struggle for daily survival. But, the good news is that challenges they grapple with become solutions with the community programs in place thanks to efforts of the same area non-profits that were posed for action in New York on September 11. The tragedy of that day reaffirms the need for community agencies and the services they provide to others. The skills learned and earned through these valuable fund-raising efforts are the fiber that hold our nation together and help make it a community that benefits all by helping those in need. This Saturday, the American Humanics Student Association is hosting a Dinner Auction in conjunction with the University of Washington, Tacoma to help students fund their trip to the National American Humanics Conference that is held once a year and satisfies one of the core requirements for certification. As President, and on behalf of the entire American Humanics Student Association, I invite you to support this valuable student organization which is part of the community that constitutes the nation in which we live. Please note your calendar and plan on attending our Dinner Auction on Saturday, October 13th from 5:30 to 9pm. You may RSVP your reservation to me at clairec@qwest.net and tickets will be ready at the door upon your arrival. They are $15.00 and if you cannot attend perhaps consider a donation. In doing so you will fund the future of the community of the United States of America. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. I also invite students to become part of the many student organizations that are dedicated to providing enrichment to your educational experience at the University of Washington, Tacoma. In addition to the American Humanics Association are the Marketing Society, Campus Ministry for Christ, Pride Coalition, and the Black Student Union just to name a few. The dinner will be catered by Mama Storitini's. We are lucky to have a famous singer by the name of Linda Terry join us, as well as a silent and live auction. Thank you and we look forward to your support and participation. Best Claire Cassedy President, American Humanics Student Association .
