When I called around to all the clubs, most of the western clubs said that most of their riders were competing in the Tour of Willamette. So, there is one reason for small number of 12 racers. 2nd, if you complain about the driving distance, you need to look of how far we, MSU, has to travel just to get to the Idaho border, 300 miles. This is about the same distance between Seattle and Spokane. Bend last year was 830 miles, about 13 hours, and we still raced, even though there was two of us, and we even drove to Bend in our own cars. Its all about racing and earning points to help your team's, and your self's chances for nationals. If no one from the UW will be at conference, then a greater chance develops for the rest of the conference clubs. So, its up to whether or not nationals, or even winning conference again, is in your grasps. Our race is going to be great. The courses are fun and challenging, plus the altitude creates a factor. "Collegiate cycling is not a country club," as said by Bill Wykoff, so if your team is really wanting to go to nationals again, or being a strong club in the conference, then conference championships will be on your schedule. We, the MSU cycling team, are looking forward of making it to the UW race, so the UW should show the same respect and come to our race. Talk to ya later :-) (-: -- Rob Whitacre, President - MSU Collegiate Cycling Club/Team Richard Juntunen wrote: > What a trip! Didn't they have a race last year that only five people showed > up to?
