In any case, I know it's pretty early still, but is anyone interested in going to California for a 4 day NRC stage race over spring break? I'm looking at the Pomona Valley Stage race in San Dimas (LA area) from the 18th to the 21st, the weekend before the first collegiate omnium of the year in Pullman. Last year there was a 8.5mi TT, then a circuit race, road race, and downtown crit to finish things up. You can look at info from last year at www.scvelo.com/2003pvsr.html, and at pictures and a write-up at: http://www.cyclingnews.com/road/2003/mar03/pomonavalley03/default.html. Two years ago I went to Sea Otter over spring break and it was a great way to kick off the season, especially since the race at Mason Lake the weekend before was in the low 30's and snowing. There's nothing like bronzen legs to intimidate your competition in March. Unfor! tunately, Sea Otter is during the second week of class this year, so Pomona will have to do. Registration is $75-95 for our fields, a pretty reasonable deal when you consider you get to do four races (Sea Otter was about $40-60 per race). There are also seperate Cat. 2 and 5 fields for those to whom this applies, and a women's 4 field; if you're a Cat 5, this means you'll be racing only against people who've done fewer than 10 races. It's nice to set some grandiose goals in the winter to motivate yourself during weather such as we've had the past week, so we should at least trick ourselves into going for motivation. It looks like a great event, lots of opportunites to watch the pro's mixing it up also. Great training camp this weekend, I recorded 30mi, 73mi, and 49mi, plus about 7000ft of total elevation gain. See you on the road, -Adrian- .
