Dear Colleagues, The Health Promotion Research Center will be conducting a symposia series this fall in Seattle on community-based participatory research (CBPR), co-sponsored by Community-Campus Partnerships for Health and Seattle Partners for Healthy Communities. The 3-part series is made possible through funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Three pairs of faculty and community partners from nationally recognized centers of CBPR in public health will share their expertise and experiences with academic leadership, faculty, students and community agencies. Planned by a committee reflective of each of these constituencies, the series is an opportunity to learn more about CBPR, about authentic partnerships between communities and academic institutions, and about the contributions that CBPR can make to understanding and addressing public health concerns. Please plan to join us for all three symposia in the series! Below are the details. You may attend any or all sessions; we especially encourage attending the morning seminar during which an overview of the presenters' CBPR partnership and projects will be presented. There is no fee involved, but please RSVP so we can reserve adequate parking and prepare nametags, participant list, handouts and refreshments. Please RSVP to Rose Coroneos at rosecor@u.washington.edu - be sure to let her know that you will be attending the CBPR symposia series, which dates you'll be attending and whether you'll need a parking space reserved.
