Dear colleagues: I am currently studying the population of the endangered Socorro Mockingbird, Mimodes graysoni. This species represents a monotypic genus endemic to Isla Socorro, Mexico. During two consecutive years I have obtained good estimates of its population size and distribution. Also I have tested and found that the use of Tomahawk traps during the dry season are really efficient for the control of the introduced cats (that seriously threat the endemic avifauna). The problem: Every year I apply for support ang get just enough money to cover only my work with Mimodes. If somebody has old Tomahawk traps or is willing to help me some way please contact me at the address below. Juan Martinez martinez@king-kong.vill.edu. P.S. I only have two Tomahawk traps on the island, with more I would be more efficient. .
