We want to have some continuity between what we discuss and we also want to get in-depth on issues, no 15 minute, scratch-the-surface brush-offs. *We decided to have regular meetings each Thursday at 4:30. The meetings will probably last at least an hour - depending...The plan is to meet at the oblisk every Thursday - the ONLY exception is if it is raining. In that case, we will meet in the foyer of By George, or just to the right (facing the entrance) in that little alcove with tables. *In order to aid the people who can't attend the meetings stay up with the group and in order to allow increased discussion, we have set forth the idea of bouncing around questions/thoughts/ideas/info/desires... over email via the "being-l" address. So if you have any wacky thing at all to say, post it and the idea is for other people to add something to it. *We also thought that it would be a good idea to get to know a little bit about the people we are discussing the meaning of life with. :-) So I'm asking everyone to spend five minutes typing up a little biography of yourself and posting it over email. Doesn't have to be too fancy, just some of the things that you deem most important in your life or the most influential. If you want to give your manjor, tell us WHY, and if you've switched in the past, WHY, and what do you plan to do later? Just give it a try. I think it will be very interesting and a good tool to get us to feel comfortable talking with everyone. *Along the same lines as the biography thing, we thought it would be a good idea to try to come up with a list of books/movies/places/etc. that you have found to be most thought-provoking or life-changing or deeply moving or influential to you. Then I would like to post a comprehensive list on our homepage. *Other suggestions include continuing the monthly potluck tradition started by Colin. Possible movie/theatre/special event outings and dinner meetings. All right. We have a base and now we can build on it and construct our group. We have the potential to be an incredible outlet and cooperative of ideas - let's do it! See you next Thursday at 4:30! -Johanna P.S. Thanks to Tap, Scott, and Bob who showed up today. :-) .
