I fully understand that wine (and possibly olive oil) would have been as exotic in India as myrrh or pepper was in Rome. I did not mean to dismiss it as an item of trade. The only thing I was trying to add as the observation that because of climate differences wine _must_ have remained exotic in the "east" over time.
