Perhaps this reinforces the idea I mentioned in my last post that Achilleus makes of Briseis what the situation demands: in his anger at Agamemnon in Book 9 he exaggerates her significance, but when that quarrel becomes less important to him than his desire to avenge Patroklos, he dismisses Briseis in the interest of a speedy reconciliation and return to battle.
