Here's the Failure related stuff...there was this guy doing sound for Shiner and I recognized him (from Lollapalooza or somewhere) wearing a Failure T-shirt. Dan and I were wondering where in the hell we knew this guy from and I asked him if he was ever Failure's soundguy....he said no, but he has been on the road with Molly McGuire and Burning Airlines, and some otherbands....I guess I saw him in St. Louis or Lollapalooza here in Dallas......anyway, he said he has heard the new Ken Andrews record and it sounds like Depeche Mode with heavy guitar work.....apparently some drum loops and depeche mode sounding stuff with the familiar Failure guitar work...that was my take anyway. So, he tells us that Tim Dow is playing drums for Ken and the dude from Jesus Lizard is on bass....this is really sounding lke a good thing. He said Tim couldn't get him a CD yet...but he heard the whole thing and it really kicks ass....so now I'm totally waiting to hear On. Just in case you are wondering who Tim Dow is...he was the drummer for Shiner until Jason Gerkin from Molly Mcguire took over...so if you know Tim and his ability and can imagine Jesus Lizard's bassist with Ken's vocals and Depeche Mode style stuff with fat Failure type of guitar work....that's as close as you'll get to hearing On until February 8th...that's the release date according to this guy. I think this is fucking awesome....I'm so waiting for this new CD. That's about it....I thought this was Failure related for sure...and Shiner related too...I got the Making Love EP and was pleasantly suprised that they did something original with the song. If you have the opportunity to see Shiner you better go and see them. Courtney P.S. Allen introduced the band as a Failure ripoff band....they are not....but it was ironic. He also introduced the band by name and called himself Ken Andrews...apparently some other band (I won't name them) labeled them a Failure ripoff band. Those of you who are familiar with Shiner know this is not the case....but it's interesting how Failure is all of a sudden so well known, huh? .
