The Northwest Forum and the Seattle Times are hosting state and local affairs author and columnist Neal Peirce and urban affairs expert and community planning specialist Curtis Johnson at a public panel discussion. Ten years ago, The Seattle Times asked Neal and Curtis to evaluate the quality of life in the Puget Sound region. The result of their work was The Peirce Report. Its influence was enormous; it helped create the climate that led to the passage of the Growth Management Act and the creation of Sound Transit. At this event Peirce and Johnson will provide a retrospective and prospective look at the Seattle metropolitan area in terms of growth management, transportation, housing and urban sprawl issues. Joining the discussion is H. Stuart Elway, president of Elway Research, which has been measuring and analyzing public opinion in the Northwest since 1975 and conducting the Seattle Times Poll since 1984. This is an opposrtunity for students and faculty to reflect on the regions' progress and think about new approaches for the future. Please join us for the panel discussion and the reception afterwards! ____________________________________________ The Northwest Forum Evans School of Public Affairs University of Washington 208 Parrington Hall Box 353055 Seattle, WA 98195-3055 Phone: (206) 221-3839 Fax: (206) 685-9044 email: nwforum@u.washington.edu .
