Title: Everett Gun Club Remediation Investigation Abstract: In 1988 Boeing acquired 25 acres of land from Pierce county that was previously used as a trap shooting gun club. After the purchase significant remediation was undertaken to remove excessive lead that resulted from the accumulation of shot. The levels were reduced until they fell below the Federal clean-up standards. Monitoring wells were installed and data collected quarterly to be reported to the Dept. of Ecology. This project focused on evaluating lead and arsenic data collected at the monitoring wells over the past five years. Arsenic concentrations on the site currently exceed clean-up levels in a few locations. To determine the extent of the arsenic problem and if the gun club could be the source several tasks were undertaken. These tasks included modeling the hydrology of the site, investigating the expected background levels of arsenic, researching the potential chemical or microbiological mobilization mechanisms, benchmarking other similar sites, determining the composition of skeet shot and evaluating the mobilization of lead and arsenic.
