Date: Mon, 26 Jan 1998 14:14:30 PST From: Peter VanVleet You *do* need a license in order to race collegiate races. Below is a forwarded message about the new licensing system. If you have any questions about getting a license, please send me email (pvv@cs.washington.edu). Peter ------- Forwarded Message -- From Emerson Tongco almighty conference director ************PLEASE FORWARD THE MATERIALS BELOW TO YOUR RIDERS!!!************ Licenses: For those of you who haven't been keeping up with federation news or are first time racers, you don't have to pay for an NCCA license this year. If you end up getting a USCF or NORBA license, you automatically can race NCCA. The Club presidents will be receiving so-called "NCCA stickers" which you will attached to your license. NOTE: If you are participating in a collegiate ROAD or TRACK event, you need a USCF license. If it's a collegiate off-road event, then you need a NORBA license. Ask for your NCCA stickers from your club pres. HOW MUCH ARE THE LICENSES? If for instance you decide to get a USCF license, it's $20 for the USA Cycling membership and $15 for a USCF racing license. A NORBA racing license is another additional $15. Expect to either pay $35 or $50 depending on whether or not you get both racing license. WHAT IF YOU ONLY WANT TO DO COLLEGIATE EVENTS? There will be 1-day licenses available in all the collegiate races. This means that if you only expect to do 1 weekend (2 days) of collegiate racing, then you only have to pay $10. ** If you expect to race a number of times (either collegiate, USCF or NORBA), I would strongly encourage getting a full racing license. You get your money's worth this way. Racing Calendar: 1) March 21-22. Saturday Crit at Lincoln Park in Spokane, WA Sunday RR (Frozen Flatlands RR) in Cheney, WA 2) April 4-5, Univ. of Washington weekend in Seattle WA Volunteer Park Criterium Vashon Island Road Race 3) April 25-26. Conference Championships in Bend, OR. Central Oregon CC is the host school. We will have a TTT, Criterium (right in downtown Bend) and a RR. ROAD NATIONALS: For those of you aspiring to go to Road Nationals, it is in Greenville, SC, May 16-17, 1998. Any questions: You can send me email at tongcoec@u.washington.edu Later, - -Emerson Tongco NCCA NW Conf. Dir. ------- End of Forwarded Message .
