Several local health agencies have expressed interest in developing common data standards and adopting uniform database tools to facilitate this improved coordination of data. On February 23, 1998, DOH and the UW Northwest Center for Public Health Practice will host a meeting of all interested local health agencies to help the local agencies plan how to proceed with this data coordination effort. At this meeting, DOH and NWCPHP staff will discuss some of the state's current projects around notifiable disease/condition data. In addition, Ivan Gotham from the state of New York will demonstrate an Intranet based system recently developed for that state to link and exchange county and state notifiable disease/condition data. The meeting will be held from 10:00 to 3:00 at the state Public Health Laboratories in north Seattle. Lunch will be provided. Limited travel funds are available for those interested local health agencies which otherwise would not be able to participate. Please RSVP to Phillip Dunham with the NWCPHP at (206)616-9245. Questions on the travel funds should also be directed to Phillip. Other questions about the meeting should be directed to Jac Davies, DOH, at (206)361-4883. Thank you very much for your time and your interest in this issue. We look forward to seeing you later this month. Paul Stehr-Green .
