This research will help to map authors in intellectual space using multidimensional scaling coupled with a clustering program. The following list of authors (separated into clusters) was generated using Science Citation Index. What I need now is for experts (that's where you people come in) in the field of biodiversity to help me with labels indicating subject emphasis of the individual authors and of the clusters. Please assign a subject label to each of the authors and also to the broader clusters (this label should encompass all the authors if possible). Any additional feedback or comments would also be appreciated. Your comments and labels will be used to validate (or not) the results of this study. Please send all responses to me at: jalger@ksuvm.ksu.edu. Here's the list (clusters are separated by a blank line): Janzen-DH Ehrlich-PR Wilson-EO Scott-JM Vitousek-PM Terborgh-J Soule-ME Frankel-OH Harris-LD Wilcove-DS Myers-N McNeely-JA Noss-RF Erwin-TL Pimm-SL May-RM Peters-RL MacArthur-RH Gilpin-ME Diamond-JM Simberloff-D Lande-R Reid-WV That's all. There should be 6 clusters and a total of 23 authors. Thanks in advance for your help and expertise. Jeff Alger Life Sciences Librarian Kansas State University jalger@ksuvm.ksu.edu .
