I recall some mention in this list that the Times was not seriously interested in the demise of the Slavic Dept., but it may be worth approaching them again. The Times has a lawsuit in process now against the UW administration, alleging a violation of the State's Open Meeting Act. Last week, a Seattle judge ruled (according to Fancher) that the UW administration violated the State open meeting laws during the selection of presidential candidates. I am guessing that the Times may want to carry this further by publicizing other situations where the adminstration may have knowingly violated laws or the University code. Fancher's e-mail address was included in the editorial, but I don't recall the exact spelling. Brenden West .
