Hopefully your weather is not too bad now and we apologize to those in the Eastern part of the state for having to cancel the assessment meetings. First, I have heard that the proposed Eastside meeting date of Feb 4th in Ellensburg is not good since some people will be coming to Olympia for WSALPHO. So our new proposal is to have the Ellensburg meeting on January 28th (Wednesday) from 9-4 and the Spokane meeting on Feb 3rd (Tuesday) from 9 to 4. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE let me know if these do not work. We have had a very full agenda at the Westside meetings and there is a lot of really important informaiton I would like as many of you as posssible to be able to attend and receive. I am preparing to mail you many of the materials we passed out at the Westside meetings and some CDC materials we have been waiting for for 3 months. Please bring these to the meetings on the East side since we will not make too many more copies for the meetings. Included documents will be: Databases and Record Keeping Systems: A hard copy of all databases the DOH has with a brief description and informaiton about the data. BRFSS Questionnaire 1998: Current Questionnaire being used for the 1998 survey year. We will discuss issues and changes with the current funding issues with BRFSS at the meetings. Websites: A list of good websites from Me and Don Oliver YRBS hand outs regarding the timeline for YRBS and what LHJs can receive from DOH if they wish to do their own local surveys. CDC Nutrition materials We will be discussing these documents at the regional meetings but I wanted you to have them as soon as possible. We need to hear from LHJs as to wether they will be wanting to conduct a local YRBS in coordination with the DOH YRBS in 1999 by the beginning of Feb so we can plan resources here at DOH. Please read through the YRBS information and begin deciding your level of interest so we can see who is interested soon after our discussions at the meetings.
