TWA was ready to leave us in Seattle with the mtn nats a day away. Coming back and claiming that the contents were noting more than some "racing equipment", it got on board at no extra cost. It wasn't lying at all, we just weren't very specific as to what type of racing equipment it was. I've heard of other people claiming their bikes were art supplies and not getting charged, but I can't substantiate these claims. Good luck. ----- Daniel Robinson ----- CRC PC Lead (a student) On Tue, 4 Feb 1997, Dan Murphy wrote: > i just decided to go to the bay area for the long weekend next weekend, > and provided that i can get a bike case to take it (is there one avail for > loan out there?) i would love to ride there. but i don't want to pay the > $50 to do it each way as the airlines are likely to charge. i have heard > from certain sources that there are certain ways around this. rumor #1 is > to say that the bike case is NOT a bike case. risky, but a knowing wink > and a 10 spot to the skycap might do the job. rumor #2: united will ship a > bike for free if you're a USCF member, or other nat'l org.
