Dental student attends the UW through the WICHE program. It is not possible to get residency while in the program, but now that he is out of the program, he wants to use the past year toward the 12 month residency requirement. All ties have been in place for the year and WICHE does not care if he uses the time toward gaining residency. Would you approve it or should he be off the program for one year before we grant approval? 2. A parent places $10,000 in her daughter's bank account January 1, 2000. This account does not have the parent's name on it so the money belongs solely to the student. The student uses these funds during the year. In January of 2001, can this income be considered toward the amount needed for financial independence? If not, how is it different from a trust fund since it is irrevocable once deposited in the student's account? I look forward to your responses! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Virjean H.
