Rhodes , Greg Allred , D J , D Glenn Meredith , Corbin M Schwanke , Brian Carver , Jay Zmuda Subject: 2002 Road Season Welcome to the New Year. I suspect that you are all gearing up for the road season, and it should be another competitive year. Our Road schedule is tentatively set: 30-31 March, Missoula--U of M Collegiate Race 7-8 April, Spokane--Frozen Flatlands 14-15 April, Pullman--WSU Collegiate Race 21-22 April, Bozeman--Bobcat Classic 27-28 April, Walla Walla, Tour of Walla Walla, Conference Championship 10-12 May, Burlington VT--Collegiate Road National Championships. We will have about the same number of events as last year and we will use essentially the same scoring rules. I'll have a better idea of the actual number of counting events when I see some plans. In that vein, it is time to start working on your race flyers and permit applications. There is currently no USAC NW representative, so our contact for permitting is Jana Burke in the National office. Her phone is 719-866-3295, and I suspect her email is jburke@usacycling.org Permit application forms are found at http://www.usacycling.org/membership/?forms_apps.htm You will need to forward a copy of your race announcement to me for approval--when the announcement is approved I will post it on the web site, which will fulfill your obligation to publish the announcement to all conference schools. By rule, the announcement must be published at least 3 weeks prior to the event, and team points can be forfeited if the deadline is not met. You also need to get your rosters put together and send me a copy. I would prefer a spreadsheet in the format of your choosing, but I need to know name, address, email, and tentative road category (Women A or B, Men A, B, or C). Guidelines for categorization are as follows: Men 1-2-3--A, Men 3-4--B, Men 4-5--C; Women 1-2-3--A, Women 3-4--B. I will again provide numbers for the year, which will be grouped by category. Good Luck with your preparations for the season, Regards, Bill .
