In-Reply-To: Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Hi guys, This looks like basic mistakes I'm making, so I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong: A: Installation of modular sound drivers. Okay, so I have here this SBC computer with an onboard ESS Chipset. The chipset is supported in the 2.3.99-pre9 kernel. I compiled the sound in a as modules, but when I run /usr/sbin/sndconfig, sndconfig says that the modules are not available and the kernel doesn't seem to be supporting sound modules. (I do know that it is booting the 2.3.99 kernel that I've compiled). So, after compiling a kernel, I do the following: Move /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/bzImage to /boot/vmlinuz-version/ Symlink /boot/vmlinuz-version to /boot/vmlinuz move /usr/src/linux/System.map to /boot/System.map.version, and symlink Update /etc/lilo.conf to install the changes... Run /sbin/lilo to reinstall Lilo. Okay, what am I missing? Why is sndconfig being grouchy? Second question: I'm trying to get GQMPEG compiled onto this box, and GTK-PIXBUF is one of the prereq library. So, I downloaded the source, compiled it. By default, make install installs the libraries in /usr/local/lib/gdk-pixbuf And compiliing I ran /sbin/ldconfig to update the libraries listing (correct?) But ./configure in GQMPEG source says that it can't find the libraries... So, what am I doing wrong there? = Terence -- /* ------------------------------------------------------------- Terence Tak-Shing Tam http://students.washington.edu/ttstam/ "Our yellow sun yields to the dark, as I begin my web-based lark, Flowing turning, thru the pipes, I grep for text and dump the hype, But as I ride the fibre trail, I test my faith as as I read my mail, Even as my bandwidth fattens, I question life and 1-click patents, Although I ask and though I query, I know the truth, I grok the theory, Life is a multimedia of sins, so he who collects the most m-peg wins -=- Illiad, UserFriendly.org --------------------------------------------------------------*/ .
