I haven't checked my email during my whole time in Kazakhstan and so now today I open it up to find 68 new messages! Thank you for keeping in touch with me--I feel so loved! Wow, I don't even know where to start to tell you about our time here. It's been 7 and a half weeks but it feels more like 3 months. We will be leaving from here this Saturday, February 17th. We are leaving at 10 pm. We are heading off on a train to China. We will stop for a couple days in Aroomshi, China. I have grown to really love this country and the people. We have been involved with a lot of projects here. And I have had wonderful opportunities to make good friends. I think the most significant thing that we've done is our English Club. We taught 3x a week. My class had about 25 students in it, ranging from high school age to college. The students here love the opportunity to learn english and they especially love Americans. It was a wonderful project and experience, developing relationships. Toward the end of the time we got to share our 'stories' with them. tomorrow nite we're having a special presentation for them and a party and we hope to give them the opportunity to make some decisions... WE have also been deeply involved with a local 'congregating place'. We've been participating in their studies and having fun times with them. I have made good friends from this group and I am going to be sad to leave them. It is so good to invest into their lives and they are so hungry to be fed. The people here are so different culturally than Americans. It's such a hot climate here. People are always welcome everywhere and hospitality is one of the most important virtues. The people have a tendancy to just sort of cling on to you. For example if you do something with them in the morning the chances that they will still be with you in the evening are quite high! Many of the believing people here have only been believing for a few months or less than a year. There is a high need for discipling them. I have been challenged a lot since being here. I have also done a lot of learning and growing. I've been taught what's important in life. Things like friendship and a relationship with him. I've also been taught to be content in every situation. To not give up. I've realized the value of relationships and the need to sacrifice for others. I've also realized even more clearly that I want to spend my life doing something that really makes a difference in this world. I don't want to spend my life wandering aimlessly around. I want to live with a purpose and a calling. I've also learned the importance of listening for his voice daily and in every circumstance cuz it's there. I'm excited to go to China. I have no idea what to expect there but I am looking forward to it. I miss you guys very much! I can't wait til I get back to Seattle in March! I'm starting to miss the rain! Here, we've had a lot of snow. I'm used to -10 C weather now! I heard some of you were interested in doing a DTS. A great way to get info is this website: www.ywam.org Here, there are listed all the different places you can do it in and more info. Peace from above. I miss you and love you, Caroline _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com .
