It is addressed to Faculty, Associates, Staff, TAs. Someone forwarded my message to someone at Romance and it apparently caused quite a stir since first I got a call from Adams and then this letter. It was, apparently, all pretty much a secret. GD Here is Adams' letter: Since Galya Diment has taken it upon herself to announce that this department is being split in two and that five linguists from it are moving to Linguistics, I thought I had better report what is fact. To my knowledge the dean has discussed with linguists (4) a possible move to Linguistics. The result of these discussions has not been conveyed to me, as I believe that they have not been concluded. I have been asked by the Dean to discuss a division of the department with all faculty members and to report to him the results. This I am in the process of doing, so that everyone on the faculty has an opportunity to express an opinion. No decision on this matter has been reached by anyone. .
