Mannering" To: faculty@ce.washington.edu Subject: MSU faculty position in structures/materials (fwd) FACULTY POSITION Structural and Materials Engineering Michigan State University Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) invites applications for a nine-month (AY) continuing tenure-track position in structural and materials engineering at the level of Assistant Professor. A Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or a closely related field is required; professional registration, or progress toward registration, is desirable. Favorable consideration will be given to applicants with experience in professional practice, teaching and research. Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants with appropriate experience and past performance may be considered for appointment at the level of Associate Professor. The successful candidate will be qualified to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in structural engineering and to conduct research on the application of innovative materials for construction, infrastructure and renovation. Duties will include teaching, developing and conducting a sustained research program, advising graduate students, directing graduate research projects, and advising on acquisition of equipment for a new materials and structures laboratory currently being planned. There are opportunities for research collaboration with faculty of the CEE department and of the Composite Materials and Structures Center (CMSC - a research unit of the College of Engineering).
