Sounds to me like he is likely not a resident of WA, however, because of the dependent status. ***************************************************************** Dr. Jolene Ramaker Assoc. Usually, the student has not lived in any other state whereas this one did live in Oregon. I would like to know whether you would give this person residency or not. (We have a tie vote going here so I'd like some input from others. Thank you! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Virjean H. Edwards University of Washington Assistant Registrar Office of the Registrar Residency Officer 264 Schmitz Hall, Box 355850 (206)543-3290 Seattle WA 98195-5850 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I would like to know if I would be qualified as an in-state student at University of Washington. I became a permanent resident of the U.S. about seven years ago. In the first few years, I lived with my parents and attended public junior and high school in Oregon. However, my parents are no longer in the States, and they have given up their privileges to reside in the States. I am 21-year-old this year, and I have lived in Washington for more than a year attending a private college. I have not lived in Oregon since the fall of 1996. My automobile vehicle has been registered in Washigton, and I am also planning to renew my driver's license in this state as well. Although brief, I had part-time jobs in Washington this summer. Since four years ago, I am mentally and physically independent, but financially still dependent of my parents. I have removed all of my ties with Oregon at the time of entry in a college in another state. I am considering to transfer to Univeristy of Washington. Please let me know if I am eligible to apply as an in-state applicant. I have read your website on the guideline for residency determination, but I am not sure if I apply to any of the categories described. Please let me know what else I need to do to establish a residency in Washington. Thank you very much. .
