Sayrs" To: uwcc@u.washington.edu Subject: CC/UW conference Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII September 16, 2002 Dear Community College Colleague, We are pleased to announce that ONLINE REGISTRATION IS NOW AVAILABLE for the 15th annual Community College/University of Washington Advising Conference. To register, go to: http://webapps.ued.washington.edu/cc/main.asp A detailed agenda is also available at this site. The conference will be held this year on Friday October 18th, 2002. This year's theme is "Multiculturalism: A Reality of the 21st Century." Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Nancy "Rusty" Barcelo, Vice President for Minority Affairs and Diversity, who will speak on this topic. The program will include an update on UW admissions and recent department changes (with Q&A). For new advisors, we'll offer Transfer 101. We are also offering our annual sessions on engineering, business, health-related majors, computer-related majors, career services, and UW-Bothell, UW-Tacoma, and Evening Degree options, as well as our nearly-annual sessions on international admissions, ESL requirements, and Running Start. For those of you who attend regularly, there will be some brand new offerings: sessions on environment-related majors, OMA's DOOR Program, and online applications. The day will end with another new idea: a Town Hall meeting--our chance to debrief, talk about common problems, and share ideas. A note on parking: In the past, we have provided a limited number of parking passes. Unfortunately, we will no longer be able to offer parking passes. Parking on campus costs $8.00 per day, and since parking at the UW is often difficult, carpooling is encouraged. More commuter information you may find useful: Link to parking services: http://www.washington.edu/admin/parking/visitday.html Link to metro bus information: http://transit.metrokc.gov Please circulate this message to new advisers, counselors or faculty who may be interested but are not yet on our listserv. We look forward to seeing you all on October 18th. Laura K. Avila lavila@u.washington.edu David M. Sayrs dsayrs@u.washington.edu Co-Coodinators, Community College/UW Advising Conference .
