We apologize for multiple postings *** Dear Friends of Salmon, On behalf of the Sustainable Fisheries Foundation and our sponsors, we cordially invite you to attend the 1998 Salmon Homecoming Forum, entitled The Sustainable Way To Salmon Recovery. The all-day conference will take place on Friday, September 11 at the Bell Harbor Conference Center in Seattle, Washington. The Forum is a highlight of the annual Salmon Homecoming Celebration – a four day festival on the Seattle waterfront featuring an exciting mix of entertainment and educational activities sponsored by the Seattle Aquarium and Indian Tribes of western Washington. This year’s Forum will focus on efforts to recover salmon populations to sustainable levels in the Pacific Northwest. Paul Hawken, author of "The Ecology of Commerce" and "Natural Capitalism," will describe the growing trend among businesses and government to work toward long-term, environmentally sound sustainability. The Forum will feature several other distinguished leaders in salmon conservation (see agenda below), who have been asked to overview the social, economic, and ecological challenges posed by recent ESA listings of Pacific salmon. Facilitated breakout sessions in the afternoon will provide opportunities for Forum participants to engage government leaders and other concerned citizens in public debate over the opportunities and barriers to achieving sustainable salmon recovery. As in past years, Forum participants can anticipate a high quality event at minimal cost thanks to the generosity of Forum sponsors. The $50 registration fee (students $25) includes refreshments, a catered luncheon, and a VIP reception at the Seattle Aquarium following the event. You may pre-register for the Forum by phone, fax, email, or directly on-line; or you may register and pay at the door on the day of the event. Due to limited space and strong demand, we encourage you to pre-register for this event. To register by phone, call (206) 386-4353. If you prefer to register by fax or email, complete the appended registration form and either fax (tel. 206-386-4328) or email (renatta.williams@ci.seattle.wa.us) it to the Seattle Aquarium.
