This box has two Intel Pro 100+ Ethernet adapters (uses the fxp driver). They are, fxp0 and fxp1. When I Installed the system from the cdrom using the setup utility, I configured both adapters with addresses. However, only one of them (fxp0) is actually assigned an Ethernet address. If I run ifconfig, I am presented with this output: bash-2.05a$ ifconfig fxp0: flags=8843 mtu 1500 inet 63.229.28.45 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 63.229.28.255 inet6 fe80::203:47ff:feb0:1ff0%fxp0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x1 ether 00:03:47:b0:1f:f0 media: Ethernet autoselect (100baseTX ) status: active fxp1: flags=8843 mtu 1500 inet6 fe80::2d0:b7ff:fee0:7155%fxp1 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x2 ether 00:d0:b7:e0:71:55 media: Ethernet autoselect (100baseTX ) status: active lp0: flags=8810 mtu 1500 lo0: flags=8049 mtu 16384 inet6 ::1 prefixlen 128 inet6 fe80::1%lo0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x4 inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000 ppp0: flags=8010 mtu 1500 sl0: flags=c010 mtu 552 faith0: flags=8002 mtu 1500 As you can see from the above, fxp1 is missing the line that sets up the address, netmask, broadcast, etc. I am not sure if there is something special needed when using two identical Ethernet controllers because I have always used two different controllers. If anyone has any ideas or solutions that's be just peachy!! jer .
