Contact information regarding the conference is included at the end of the message: Dear Environmental and Health Colleagues, The GIS unit of the Information Resources Management Administration is planning its 4th Annual GIS Conference at the University of Baltimore's Thumel Business Center. The conference is scheduled for October 27, 2004 and like last year, will be a daylong event beginning at 8:30AM and concluding at 3:30 PM. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided along with some favors. i.e. cups, t-shirts, pins. The theme of the conference this year is "GIS as a Decision Science." The conference topics will include: "Security, myths and reality," and "Using GIS for Resource Management". Two new GIS software packages will be demonstrated: Geo-statistical Analyst, and Spatial Analyst. These demonstrations will use actual applications at DHMH, including health disparities and emergency management. The objective is to increase the use of GIS within DHMH, show how GIS can be used as a cost effective tool, and show how GIS can improve the quality of Public Health services we provide to the citizens of Maryland. A number of seminars will also be offered to showcase the practical applications of GIS in delivering Health Services. The $50 registration fee includes a Continental breakfast and lunch.
