He got featured on p.1 of the NYT last Thursday, recalling a meeting last year with Mike Milken, who is currently scarfing up educational technology companies. Here is Levine's recollection of the meeting: ''The message was, 'You guys are in trouble and we're going to eat your lunch,' '' Dr. Levine said, recalling what he considered not a direct threat but a kind of predatory challenge. It was not coincidence that Levine should be the interlocutor: Milken shares my sense that this is one of the smarter people around. A name to watch. Unfortunately the NYT story on educational technology was not a story to read, despite its p.1 location: beyond the Levine quotes it added nothing to what this list basically knows about the growth of companies like the Apollo Group. Sylvan Learning Centers (whose stock, I note, has plunged from 31 to 12 in the past year) and other organizations.
