This programme undertakes a number of research projects in the Eastern Cape which aim to integrate developmental and environmental objectives in addition to contributing to scholarly knowledge. Requirements: A record of successful research and publication in the field of rural development and related areas such as natural resource management, land tenure, etc; familiarity with the dynamics of South African rural communities; good interpersonal skills; a PhD in a relevant area (persons about to complete a PhD may also be considered).
