Just to give the pleasant side of ancient pigs a showing, let's not forget
the Testamentum Porcelli, which according to Jerome whole classes of
schoolboys used to recite in a state of high hilarity: summoned by the cook
to his execution, M. Grunnius Corocotta begs a little time to write his
will, then does so (including the stipulation of a monument stating that he
had lived for 999 1/2 years).
No more gruesome, I suppose, than our 3 little pigs; or were the students
actually being taught about how to write a will? [PS Not a serious
question.]
