The tablet records an important public ceremony that took place at the end of the 3rd century or at the beginning of the 2nd century. It was attended, in front of the supreme state authority, by representatives of two powerful families of landowners (Scevas and Cusu), about fifteen buyers and as many witnesses. The purpose of the meeting was the sale (or lease) of a vast area near Lake Trasimeno, including some vineyards. The text contains 27 words not previously recorded. Some of them have been deciphered: 'vinac', vineyard; 'celtinei', in the land; 'eprus', guarantor; 'male', to see; 'mlesie', hill; 'tiss', lake; 'tarsminass', Lake Trasimeno. http://www.corriere.it/corriere-online/corriere/2000/03/04/drf/a0025063.spm -- Gianfranco Boggio-Togna Milano (Italy) .
