The natural world (plants, animals, bacteria, fungi) is the main source of pharmaceuticals. The urbanisation of indigenous cultures is leading to agents disappearing. There are concerns involving the appropriate use of natural biomaterials and legal, commercial and ethical aspects. Two clear pharmaceutical views are held: the applied science view and the rational drug-design view. This conference plans to address problems in these areas.
