We might consider inviting the director to come speak to the Community-Campus Partnerships group this fall. They are clearly a potential source of grant funding, training and technical assistance. Sarena ---------- POSITION: Program Director START DATE: August 4, 1997 RESPONSIBILITIES: The Program Director will manage a Learn and Serve: Higher Education grant that will provide training and technical assistance and issue approximately 50 mini-grants to higher education institutions in Washington, Oregon, California, and Hawaii. The purpose of the grant is to build programs that strengthen the service ethic on higher education campuses. S/he will develop program timelines, issue requests for proposals to institutions, coordinate selection process, develop training and technical assistance services, oversee the development of evaluation tools, conduct site visits, write progress reports, and be responsible for meeting all program objectives. S/he will also be responsible for hiring and supervising 3 work study support staff and co-supervising 3 out-of-state program coordinators. This position requires in-state and out-of-state travel. S/he will be responsible for managing a $1,000,000 annual budget. The Program Director will attend all grantee meetings and represent Campus Compact at regional and national events. QUALIFICATIONS: The Program Director must be experienced in managing federal grants. S/he must be knowledgeable in the pedogogy of service-learning and have experience managing service-learning programs in higher education. The Program Director must be able to develop program objectives and work with staff (in-state and out-of-state) and subgrantees to meet those objectives. S/he will be experienced and knowlegeable in developing program assessment tools. S/he must have previous experience supervising students and working in a fast paced environment. The successful candidate will have an understanding of National Service Programs. S/he must be skilled in training and development both in small and large group settings. The candidate must be computer literate, able to travel, posess strong written and verbal skills and be able to work within deadlines. She must be able to write comprehensive reports. The Program Director will have previous experience managing $1,000,000 budgets. MA required. SALARY: This is a FT administrative exempt position. Salary range is $32-40,000 depending on qualifications. Excellent benefits package is included. This position is grant funded and subject to receipt of a Learn and Serve: Higher Education grant from the Corporation for National Service. Grant period is 9/97 through 8/98.
