Abya Yala News, the only publication of its kind, offers an Indigenous perspective on Indigenous movements in Latin America, presents news from grassroots organizations, and is published quarterly in English and Spanish. Job Description: Coordinate journal production in both English and Spanish (4 issues of each every year). This includes solicitation of articles from Indigenous organizations in Latin America; coordinating discussions of content with the SAIIC director and the editorial board; translating and editing articles; writing short news stories; laying out the journal in a desktop publishing program; coordinating production with a print shop; assisting with distribution of journal. Requirements: Knowledge of and commitment to Indigenous issues of South and Meso America; excellent writing and editing skills in both English and Spanish; computer proficiency in word processing, desktop publishing, and email; highly self-motivated and innovative; ability to maintain focus and meet deadlines despite distractions. Salary: Dependent on experience; comparable to other small non-profits. Deadline: ASAP. We will interview for this job until it is filled.
