London: Bristol Classical Press, 1996 (distributed by Focus), ISBN 1-= 85399-480-4. This takes a Pharr-like approach but uses Book 5 of the Odys= sey as its text instead of the Iliad. There's a review at the Bryn Mawr C= lassical Review site. I found this text through GL's Greek Too site (EYXA= PISTO! & gratias ingentes). I'm planning to teach with this in the fall to students who have had one ye= ar of New Testament Greek. If anyone has had experience with this textboo= k I'd be interested in hearing from them.=20 The typography is hard on the eye, but this book may be helpful to start wi= th, perhaps in combination with Pharr.=20 Hope this helps, Diane "Greetings,=20 I am going to begin a self study course in Ancient Greek and have narr= owed my text choices down to two. Either Pharr's Homeric Greek or the Joi= nt Association of Classical Teachers Reading Greek series. Would some of = you mind giving me a recommendation as to which text would be preferable?= I live in Hawai'i and will have no access to a teacher. By the way, thank you all for the interesting discussions. I learn so= mething new and interesting from you every day.
