For Science Departments only:

  Because of problems caused by severe overloading of the FastLane
  system, the National Science Foundation has extended the deadline
  for submission of a Graduate Research Fellowship application to
  11:59:59 p.m., Friday, November 10, 1995.  This extension represents
  a new postmark deadline for printed forms as well as a new
  submission deadline for FastLane applications.  In order to avoid
  overloading the FastLane system, we urge applicants to either
  (1) submit a FastLane application well before the deadline, or
  (2) consider submitting an application in hard copy rather than in
  FastLane this year, especially if you are just starting to fill out
  your FastLane application.  Applications cannot be initiated in
  FastLane after 12:00 noon, E.S.T., Wednesday, November 8, 1995;
  FastLane applications initiated before that time can be completed
  and will be accepted if they are submitted by 11:59:59 p.m.,
  November 10.
