In order to establish independent status, do you have a minimum dollar figure that you use for approval purposes? If so, what is it? 2. Student scenario: a student submitted an Admission Application for Summer 99 to us in March 99. At the time of submission, he was attending a private high school in Portland, Oregon called Open Meadow Learning Center. He is now applying for residency as an independent person effective Summer 99. Info submitted: *turned 20 years old in May 99 *from 10/97 through 5/98 lived with grandmother in Portland, while attending high school *statement from mother who resides in Tacoma indicating he had dual residency in Oregon & Washington, commuted back and forth, keeping Washington as his primary residence *Wash. vehicle registration dated 6/30/98 in stepfather's name *Wash. driver's license dated 12/22/97 *1998 W-2 form listing $276.75 as income and OR in the state box Based on the above information, what would you do regarding his request? Any suggestions, comments, etc. will be appreciated! Thanks, Cindy Burbank, Coordinator of Admissions, Pierce College .
