As part of its annual Summer Research Program, AFOSR is currently seeking dedicated academic scientists and engineers in a spectrum of technical fields to participate in eight to twelve weeks of paid research next summer. Candidates who are selected to participate in the Summer Research Program will be assigned to one of six Air Force Laboratories or five Air Logistics Centers throughout the country, where they will join with their Air Force colleagues to conduct key research on technologies that are pivotal to our nation's defense. Following the conclusion of the Summer Research Program, AFOSR also offers selected participants an opportunity to pursue their AFOSR-sponsored work at their own academic institutions through the award of follow-on research grants (the Summer Research Extension Program) in amounts up to $25,000. Faculty and graduate students alike must be free to work continuously for an eight-to twelve week period from May 15 through September 30, 1996. Participants will be compensated at the following rates: Faculty members - $770/week, Graduate students with masters' degrees - $470/week, Graduate students with bachelors' degrees - $400/week. Graduate students must be U.S. citizens; faculty members may be either U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Application materials must be received by Research & Development Laboratories (RDL) by the following dates: January 19, 1996 (faculty) and March 1, 1996 (graduate students).
